All Natural Constipation Remedy

If you’ve ever suffered from constipation, you know how painful and unpleasant it can be.  Watching your child go through the discomfort and pain is even more unsettling.  This natural remedy is a great way to start healing your child’s slow moving gut and help get at the root cause of the problem...their DIET!  Unlike over the counter prescription laxatives that only treat the symptoms, natural therapies like this one, can help treat the root problem so that symptoms don’t return.  

Food is truly the main player when it comes to constipation.  Increasing fiber in the form of fruits and vegetables, increasing water intake, and reducing processed foods and dairy are keys to ending chronic suffering. 

This remedy includes specific foods like flax and prunes that have natural laxative properties as well as magnesium rich pumpkin seeds that help draw water into the colon and relaxe smooth muscle - helping the colon “let go”.  

Ingredients:

2 medium apples, skins on, seeds removed, and chopped
1/2 cup prune juice
1 cup filtered water
1/2 cup prunes
1 cup oat bran
Fresh lemon juice (1/2 lemon squeezed)
1/2 cup freshly ground flax seed
1/2 Tsp cinnamon
1-2 tsp raw local honey
1/2 cup pumpkin seeds

Directions:
 

Add all ingredients to a high speed blender and mix until blended. (I use a Vitamix)  Mixture will be a thick consistency. Transfer to a mason jar and store in fridge.  Tonic will keep for up to 10 days.

Take 2-3 tablespoons daily as needed with 8-12 ounces of water.
