Hello! My name's Nicole. It's nice to meet you.
You're finding me on a pretty big day. Today, I've decided to launch this site. It's something I've been thinking about for long time, but I've been busy learning, researching, coming to my own understanding of food, our psychological relationship with food, and how what we eat impacts our lives.
Now it's time for me to give back, and share my learning with you.
I believe we have a generally unhealthy relationship with the food we eat. We consume what's given to us. We devour what's prepared in restaurants. We continue to buy what's stocked on market shelves. But we haven't been taught to ask the critical questions about how that food impacts us. In my work, and years of training as an integrative nutritionist, I uncovered a little secret that will not only change your life, but will serve as the foundation of this site:
Food Is Medicine.
Sounds simple right? It can be, but as with so many of our ills, when we humans start mucking around in natural systems, we have a knack for making the beautiful messy.
In food, I see the answers to our obesity epidemic. I understand the daily effort it takes to make a difference in our children's lives. I see the great potential we have to become a healthy society, but I am saddened by the choices we make collectively in our schools, in our communities, and in our homes. Our food climate has changed. It changed a long time ago.
People are finally starting to educate themselves about the state of our food supply, our environment, and the epidemics of disease. This education has fostered an understanding that we have a major problem.
In the world of nourishment, we need to act faster and with greater fortitude. I believe we can do all these things, and we will make a difference.
Thank you for joining me here. I encourage you to subscribe in the sidebar and reach out with questions, comments, or thoughts as we work to shape our own world through great nutrition and healthy spirit!
